After Two Years, Amit Shah Unveils New Initiatives; 200 Virtual Labs Are Included In The New Plan; New Age Skills

To commemorate the passing of two years since the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s introduction, Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled many fresh initiatives focused on education and skill development.

In celebration of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s two-year anniversary, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled a plethora of fresh educational and skill-development programmes on Friday. Mr. Shah made a number of new announcements at the occasion, including the Vidya Amrit Portal, 200 virtual labs, a strategy on school innovation, a mobile app for public participation on the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), and others.

In his remarks, Mr. Shah said: “Education should foster virtues like courage, empathy, and character while also preparing pupils to face the problems of daily life. The twenty-first century is the era of knowledge. The goal of NEP 2020 is to use knowledge to advance the nation.”

He continued, “NEP 2020 enriches knowledge and culture and is consistent with our society’s ambitions.

The Minister of Education added, “Our educational goals include doing good for the world and obtaining degrees and certificates. The Macaulay’s educational system was created to invade our minds, and National Education Policy 2020 is its antidote.”

“India can achieve the highest level of achievement with the help of education. The expectations of society are placed upon us, and we try to fulfil them “And Mr. Pradhan.

NEP 2020 is not just about hopes and aspirations; it also lays out an action plan to carry out the vision, according to Anita Karwal, secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, who expressed gratitude to students, teachers, and parents for cooperating in its implementation.

The 34-year-old National Policy on Education, created in 1986, was superseded by the NEP, which the Union Cabinet approved in 2020. Its goal is to pave the ground for radical changes to the school and higher education systems, transforming India into a superpower of knowledge.

A single regulator for higher education institutions, except law and medical colleges, lowering the stakes of board exams, teaching up to class 5 in mother tongue or regional language, and common entrance exams for universities are part of the sweeping reforms in the new NEP.

Among other notable aspects of the new policy, replacing the 10+2 structure of school curricula with a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure that corresponds to age groups 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years, respectively, scrapping MPhil programs, and implementing common standards for private and public higher education institutions.
