Elon Musk has acquired the social media platform Twitter for $44 billion with shares valued at $54.20. Musk announced his bid to takeover Twitter on April 14. While announcing his bid, Musk said ‘best and final offer’. Twitter, on the other hand, guarded itself with ‘poison pill defence’. According to Wall Street Journal, on Friday, Musk met “privately with several shareholders of the company to extol the virtues of his proposal” and also made video calls to them to consider his bid and push them for his offer.
Musk said ‘Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it. Elon musk has the objective to attain free speech on Twitter.
“I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy.”
Musk has proposed to have an ‘Edit button’. He held a poll for the ‘edit button’. However, Twitter has confirmed the introduction of the ‘Edit button’.

A Twitter user stated. “NAACP statement: “Mr Musk: free speech is wonderful, hate speech is unacceptable. Disinformation, misinformation and hate speech have NO PLACE on Twitter.
