The 90th Interpol General Assembly will be held on October 18 at roughly 1:45 PM in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. From October 18 to 21, Interpol’s 90th General Assembly will take place.

Around 2,000 foreign dignitaries, including ministers, police chiefs, police officers, and support staff from 195 Interpol member countries will attend the meeting, in addition to representatives from Interpol’s head office, Indian officials, and members of the media, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The occasion offers a chance to introduce the entire globe to the best practises of India’s law and order system.

The statement said that delegations from 195 Interpol member nations, including ministers, national police chiefs, heads of national central offices, and senior police personnel, will attend the summit. Amit Shah, the union’s minister of the interior, Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, and Jurgen Stock, the secretary general, will all be in attendance.

In conjunction with India’s 75th anniversary of its independence, the General Assembly is being convened in India for the first time in 25 years (it was previously hosted in 1997). During the latter’s official visit to New Delhi in August 2019, the measure was suggested by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock.

According to PTI, which cited officials, the event, which will run from October 18 to October 21, will centre on corruption and cybercrimes, child sexual abuse material shared online, missing people, and terrorism in addition to new technologies and mechanisms to improve police-to-police cooperation in tracking fugitive criminals around the world.
