Since 1976, the vessel, which resembled a Chinese imperial palace, has served Cantonese cuisine to celebrities such as Queen Elizabeth II and Tom Cruise.It had been featured in various films, including one starring James Bond, but the pandemic killed the business as diners turned away.
Due to a coronavirus outbreak in 2020, Jumbo suspended operations. Covid-19’s parent firm was unable to locate a new owner and was unable to maintain it after months of restrictions.
The ship was supposed to stay in an undisclosed place while it looked for a new owner.
On Tuesday (June 14), residents bid farewell to the iconic Jumbo Seafood Restaurant as it was towed away by tugboats from its 46-year home.
