According to a statement released Friday, a BSF jawan went missing after slipping into a river while pursuing livestock traffickers on a boat near the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district.
According to the BSF statement, the incident occurred Thursday night when the jawan was pursuing the smugglers on the Bhagirathi river.

According to a BSF patrol squad, cattle traffickers were discovered by the river.

Constable Amit Kumar slipped into a strong water current as a boat was traveling toward the smugglers and had been missing ever then, it said. “The boat encountered considerable turbulence in the middle of the river,” the statement continued.

The BSF said that three NDRF squads were looking for Kumar.
