On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on the first “Mann ki Baat”, a monthly radio address said that Corruption is like a termite that hollows the nation from the inside, and the task to make the nation corruption-free should not be delayed anymore. He also urged the citizens across the nation to work together to get rid of this menace as soon as possible.

In the monthly address to the nation, PM Modi read a postcard that was addressed to him by a girl from Prayagraj who mentioned her dream of a corruption-free India by the year 2047. Responding to the postcard, Modi said that why to wait for 2047 to get rid of corruption. He mentioned that Corruption hollows out a nation as the termites do and further said that all of the countrymen including the youth of today have to do this work together of removing corruption from the country as soon as possible. He stated that where duty is felt, duty is paramount and corruption, at such a place, cannot think of entering there.

PM mentioned, during his address, that Ladakh will soon be getting an open synthetic track and an astroturf football stadium being built at the height of more than 10,000 feet making it the largest open stadium in Ladakh with the capacity of 30,000 spectators.

PM during Mann Ki Baat also talked about a postcard from a girl who hails from Assam who expressed her desire to see the nation as the cleanest country in the world, completely free of terrorism, among the 100 per cent literate countries, with 0 accidents, and a nation that is capable of ensuring food security with sustainable technology by the year 2047. To this, Modi said that what our daughters think, and the dreams they see for the nation may come true and added that they will make India the way they want it to be.

Modi talked about the merging of the Amar Jawan Jyoti that is situated near India Gate and the flame located at the National War Memorial. He mentioned that the eyes of many countrymen and the families of martyrs were filled with tears on this emotional occassion. He said that the names of all the martyrs since independence have been inscribed on the memorial to honour their services. 

PM mentioned that many former soldiers of the army have written to him saying that the eternal flame lit at the memorial is a symbol of the immortality of the martyrs. He urged the people to visit the National War Memorial with their families whenever they can. 

He also talked about the inauguration of a digital sculpture of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the India Gate. He further mentioned how the unsung heroes of India who have received the Padma awards have done extraordinary things in Ordinary circumstances for the nation.
