The Emmys 2022 was held in Los Angeles yesterday night, and it was Ted Lasso’s night there (early this morning for India). The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Only Murders in the Building, and other candidates were defeated by the program to win the Best Comedy Series for a second consecutive year. Jason Sudeikis, who starred in Ted Lasso, took the Best Actor (Comedy) for the second year. Additionally, the program won Best Director (Comedy) for MJ Delaney, while his co-star Brett Goldstein won Best Supporting Actor (Comedy). For their roles in the television series Euphoria and Hacks, Zendaya and Jean Smart received Best Actress awards in the drama and comedy categories, respectively. Both won again at the Emmys from the previous year.
Best Drama Series went to Succession, a fan favorite, while Best Supporting Actor went to star Matthew Macfadyen (Drama). Best Limited or Anthology Series went to The White Lotus, while Best Supporting Actress went to Jennifer Coolidge (Limited or Anthology Series). Lee Jung-Jae, who starred in Squid Game, won Best Actor (Drama). Michael Keaton, who starred in Dopesick, won Best Actor (Limited or Anthology Series); and Amanda Seyfried, who starred in The Dropout, won Best Actress (Limited or Anthology Series).
The White Lotus and Squid Game both won directing Emmys in their respective fields. Succession and The White Lotus were recognized for their writing.
