Woman From Noida Arrested in Connection With Cop’s Murder During Delhi Riots

According to a top officer on Friday, a 27-year-old woman suspected of murdering Delhi Police Head Constable Ratan Lal during the 2020 northeast Delhi riots was apprehended in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the authorities, fifty other police officers were also hurt, along with Lal, the former Shahdara DCP Amit Sharma, and the former ACP Gokalpuri Anuj Kumar.

Technical surveillance revealed that the accused's mobile number was not in use. Still, a thorough analysis of the call records showed that one of her close relatives' mobile numbers had repeatedly been calling the Noida customer service number, which raised suspicion, according to a senior police officer.

A trap was set on Thursday close to the Cogent building in Sector 63 in Noida. The lady, a Subhash Mohalla, Bhajanpura resident, was detained at 5.30 p.m., according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sanjay Kumar Sain.

She admitted to the crime and told authorities that she had actively participated in CAA/NRC demonstrations during disturbances in February 2020.

She ran away from her home and had been staying in various leased homes ever since. According to the DCP, she got married during this time and later got a job as a customer service representative at a Noida-based business.

She went on to say that she never used her cell phone and only made calls through the internet using programs. She had been calling customer service.

Police stated that she was designated an offender on September 5, 2020, with a reward of $50,000.

According to the police, Head Constable Lal joined the force due to the intense anxiety in the region despite having a minor fever and receiving advice from his coworkers to rest.

As things started to become heated, he assisted the ACP and DCP at the time in calming down and regulating the throng. When the crowd began hitting the cops, he shielded them and sustained 24 injuries, which led to his death.

According to authorities earlier this month, a 33-year-old male was reportedly detained in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the incident. The Chand Bagh inhabitant and accuser, Mohd Wasim alias Bablu alias Salman, was listed as a "Proclaimed Offender" by the Delhi High Court.
