CBI detains the CEO of Power Grid Corporation and five other people in the Power Grid-Tata Projects case.

In connection with bribery allegations, the Central Bureau of Investigation has detained five senior Tata Projects executives, including Executive VP Deshraj Pathak and Assistant VP RN Singh. BS Jha is the Executive Director of the Power Grid Corporation of India.

A power grid bribery case including charges of corruption in the North Eastern Regional Power System Improvement Project led to the arrest of the executives.

According to allegations, Jha gave Tata Contracts favours in a number of projects in exchange for illegal payments.

The six detained suspects will appear before the Panchkula court on Thursday.

In New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad, searches are in progress. According to sources, during searches at BS Jha’s offices, 93 lakh rupees were found.

According to them, Tata Projects was awarded the contracts as part of the North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project, which is a comprehensive plan for enhancing the region’s power infrastructure and is financed by the World Bank. In accordance with the plan, the corporation was focusing on the Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh regions.

While the CBI was monitoring Jha’s activities, the roles of R N Singh, AVP Business Head—Distribution, and Desh Raj Pathak, Executive Vice President and SBU Head (Transmission & Distribution) India, SAARC, and SEA at Tata Projects Ltd., came to light.
