Health professionals are worried about the Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD), often known as tomato fever since it is spreading so quickly among children. A report published in the Lancet Respiratory Journal has now warned of the fast increasing instances of HFMD among youngsters in India, despite the fact that Covid-19 has not let go of its hold on Indian citizens and that the dagger known as Monkeypox also hangs low.

Doctors have expressed concern over the spike in tomato fever cases among toddlers in India. The first instance of “tomato fever” was recorded in Kerala’s Kollam on May 6, according to Lancet Respiratory Journal. There are now 82 children under 5 that have the cureent infection.

An indication of tomato fever

The report stated that infectious disease has affected Anchal, Aryankavu, and Neduvathur regions of Kerala. It also said the emergence of the disease even sparked an alert in the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
