India's new Covid cases reach 13,000, the highest number in more over 120 days: Top notch

The previous day, Maharashtra recorded 3,260 cases and three fatalities associated with COVID. Mumbai, the state’s metropolis, was home to more than 1,600 new cases.

In the past 24 hours, India recorded 13,313 Covid cases, an increase of 8% from yesterday, and the first time daily new cases have surpassed 13,000 since February 25. 

38 Covid-related fatalities were recorded nationwide, up from 13 the day before. 

The number of daily new cases has increased over the previous two months; 2,022 cases were recorded on May 23 and 2,527 on April 23.

Current top updates on the Covid issue in India:

According to data from the health ministry, the number of active cases increased by almost 2,300 in 24 hours. The number of current Covid cases in the nation has risen to around 84,000, the highest number since early March.

The weekly positivity rate is 2.81%, while the daily positivity rate is 2.03%.

In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra recorded 3,260 cases and three fatalities associated with COVID. Mumbai, the state’s metropolis, was home to more than 1,600 new cases.

With a positive rate of 7.08 percent, the national capital Delhi reported 928 instances in 24 hours. On Wednesday, the city also noted three deaths linked to COVID.

In a single day, Chhattisgarh recorded 130+ instances. On Wednesday, Telangana recorded 434 new instances, while Goa reported 156. Gujarat recorded more than 400 new instances on the previous day, while Madhya Pradesh recorded 49, according to a report by the news agency PTI.

Anil Vij, Haryana’s minister of housing and health, tested positive for Covid a second time. Two weeks after receiving the first dose of Covaxin as part of the Phase III studies for the vaccine, Vij underwent his initial positive test in December 2020.

Uddhav Thackeray, the chief minister of Maharashtra, and BS Koshyari, the governor, tested positive. The governor has been hospitalized in a Mumbai hospital, while the chief minister is reportedly dealing with a political problem alone at home.
