It can be launched from a mobile launcher and has a state-of-the-art Navigation System and Integrated Avionics.

India successfully test-fired the solid fuel, battlefield missile off the Odisha coast in Balasore, the DRDO search sources reported. Developed by the defense Research Development organization. ‘PRALAY’ is based on the Prithvi defense vehicle from the Indian Ballistic Program. It was launched from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island around 10:30 a.m on Tuesday. It was able to meet all the mission objectives, the sources stated.

‘PRALAY’  is an advanced quasi ballistic surface-to-surface missile that has been developed in a way that it can defeat interceptor missiles. It also has the ability to change its path after covering certain range mid-air. The missile, which is capable of striking the targets at a range of 150 to 500 km met with the designated target with high degree accuracy validating the control guidance and mission algorithms, the DRDO mentioned. Officials also informed during the exercise that all the sub-systems performed ‘satisfactorily’.‘PRALAY’ is powered by a solid-propellant rocket motor and has many new technologies.

Defense minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and all the associated teams for successfully testing the Maiden development flight trial of ‘PRALAY’. He also complimented the organization for the speedy development and successful launch of the modern surface-to-surface missile. Secretary DD R&D and Chairman of the Defence Research Development Organization, Dr. G Satheesh Reddy Also extended their appreciation to the whole team and said that this missile is a new generation surface-to-surface missile which is equipped with all the modern technology and the induction of this weapon system will give the much-needed impetus to the Armed forces.

Amidst the threats of war that are hovering over the nation, this new missile system developed as a tactical missile that can also carry a huge payload at heights has modernized the Indian firepower. Our scientists put in a lot of work to develop such high technological weapon systems and are deserving of all the admiration for the same. This system which is built and launched domestically is also a good sign of the “ Made in India “ scheme that will inspire others to achieve great heights in their respective fields and will prove to the world that India as a nation is very powerful in all aspects.
