Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan's prime minister, declares that "permanent peace" with India is "not an option''

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, has spoken about Islamabad’s wish for “permanent peace” with India and how discussion is the best course of action because neither nation wants to go to war. He added that the solution to the Kashmir problem is necessary for the region to experience long-term peace.

Sharif also advocated for trade and economic competition between Islamabad and New Delhi.

The premier also held a conversation with students about the problems Pakistan is now experiencing. In response to one of the inquiries, the prime minister claimed that structural issues and long-term political instability are to blame for Pakistan’s economic catastrophe.

When there were plans, a national will, and the implementation mechanism to generate results, he claimed, all economic sectors in Pakistan’s first few decades of existence saw tremendous growth.

Notably, the PM also made a reference to the Kashmir dispute, saying that the resolution of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was necessary for long-term peace in South Asia (PoK).

The Pakistani prime minister continued

Nothing less than a resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions and the demands of Kashmiris will work.

Shehbaz also emphasised that commerce, the economy, and improving living circumstances should be the only areas of rivalry between India and Pakistan, two neighbours. Students from different racial and academic backgrounds made up the delegation. The prime minister greeted the students and had an open dialogue about the problems Pakistan was currently facing.

In response to a question regarding the national economy and the IMF programme, the prime minister of Pakistan stated that structural issues and political instability in recent decades are to blame for Pakistan’s economic catastrophe.
