A rescue operation is under way after several people were buried in a landslide caused by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. As many as 10 bodies have been recovered, 8 from Kashang village and two from Sadoha village. Personnel from the NDRF and SDRF have been sent to help with the local rescue efforts. Seven persons remain unaccounted for.

In the meanwhile, 14 homes are in a danger zone, and 32 homes have been damaged across the area. In the sake of public safety, these homes have been abandoned. 17 livestock were also lost in the district’s sudden flood. In Mandi, 122 roads are shut to traffic.

According to Sudesh Mokhta, director of the state disaster management department, Kullu, Chavelu Devi (55), and Kritika (17) died after their home in Khadel village, Sheel gramme panchayat, Anni tehsil, was struck by rubble after the landslide at around 9 am. At Deuthi, an ancient bus stop and a panchayat building are also in danger of being washed away, and officials from the revenue department have already arrived to assess the situation.

According to the official, three small automobiles and a pickup truck were washed away in the Shimla district after intense rains at Diyandali Nullah in Chopal tehsil.

According to him, a landslide in the morning closed the Mandi-Kullu national route in the Mandi district.The event at 7 Mile near Pandoh, according to the Mandi District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC), has fully stopped National Highway-21. Traffic for vehicles has been rerouted through Kataula.

According to Mokhta, a cloudburst incident in Chamba district resulted in the loss of a crasher, two compressor machines, and a construction company’s store near Ala Nullah in Bharmour tehsil.

National Highway-3 is blocked in the Lahaul-Spiti district. After flash floods at Telling nullah in the Lahaul subdivision, there is a flood-like condition and stones are continuously falling near Kuthbihal, he continued.
