A Sustainable Drinking Water Center is Launched at IIT Jodhpur

The Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur have teamed up to host “Udbhaas” from September 24 to 26, 2022. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Minister of Jal Sakthi, officially opened the Center for Sustainable Drinking Water in Dharohar, along with a physical craft museum, exhibition, and sale.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a Union Minister for Jal Sakthi, addressed the people of Jodhpur and said,“I would like to start by congratulating IIT Jodhpur for developing and organising the multisectoral programme “Udbhaas- Jal Aur Jeevan.” “Along with this, IIT Jodhpur is also working on developing a digital archive for preserving the craft forms and knowledge of Jodhpur by using its technological and managerial interventions. From developing artisan-focused business models to developing cutting-edge technology to enable consumer emersion and related commerce, are some of the initiatives on the same,” Professor Chaudhury tacked on during his speech.

The Centre for Sustainable Drinking Water, which places a focus on sustainable drinking water sources, is one of the five centres supported by the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) Ministry of Jal Shakti. The center’s goal is to increase capacity and encourage outreach, research, and instruction (CORE).

Project Craft, a vertical dedicated to the protection, preservation, and promotion of indigenous craft and craftsmen, is sponsoring a lecture series and a hackathon competition to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and the incubation of craft-related livelihoods during Udbhaas.
