All about Pi day 2022-“Mathematics Units”; How the day was Celebrated.

Pi day is celebrated as the “International Day of Mathematics”. In November 2019 UNESCO declared Pi day as the International day of mathematics.

This year Pi-day was celebrated on March 14. Also marking 143rd birth anniversary of great mathematician and physicist, Albert Einstein.

Pi day is a day to celebrate the mathematical constant pi. Pi day was first celebrated by Former physicist Larry Shaw who acknowledged march 14 with 3.14 in 1988. Since March is the third month according to the gregorian calendar and on date 14, if we write the date in Month/ day format then it is written 3/14 which symbolizes the value of pi that is 3.14. The day is celebrated sharply at 1:59 as these are the numbers in the value of pi after 14.

The mathematician Archimedes of Syracuse, born in 287 BC was the one who calculated the value of Pi. Pi is used to find the area and circumference of a circle. Larry shaw's idea to celebrate Pi day was to acknowledge mathematics as Fun and Enjoying.

Pi day is also celebrated in the honor of physicist Albert Einstein by Mathematics Enthusiasts because March 14 marks the birth anniversary of Albert Einstein.

All around the globe people and mathematics lovers celebrated Pi day in different forms. Schools, workplaces, museums, and institutions celebrated the day in different ways. Various math seminars and events are held. NASA  created a Maths challenge on the account of Pi day.
