At India's Al Impact Summit 2026, which is taking place at the Bharat  Mandapam in New Delhi from 16 February to 20 February 2026, it has created global impact and was attended by tech giants and leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman, Chairman & MD, Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani, Secretary‑General, and United Nations António Guterres.

The platform allows companies, universities, and startups to showcase their AI innovations, which include drones, robots, machines, and research projects. During such an exhibition, Galgotias University, a private university situated in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, showcased a robotic dog named "Orion" at its booth.

The representative, Prof. Neha Singh, who introduced the media to Orion and said, “This is Orion. This has been developed by the Centre of Excellence at Galgotias University.”

Netizens were quick to recognise the robot from Chinese videos of those Robot dogs. They went to see the price, and it cost Rs. 2 Lakh. They even claimed to create a soccer drone from scratch, which was also imported.

The university received massive backlash and was instructed to clear its booth at the summit on 18th February. The claim was shamed by major new outlets like the BBC. The university was exhibiting a robot by Unitree Go2, a Chinese firm.

Prof. Neha Singh was quick to change her statement and said she never said it was developed on campus. She even said that the branding was already there, and they did not change it so how could they claim it in the first place? The university introduced it to its student to manufacture something of their own. She claimed the university has made the country proud.

The university released a statement saying it does not support what Prof. Neha Singh said. “We at Galgotias University, wish to apologise profusely for the confusion created at the recent Al Summit. One of our representatives, manning the pavilion, was ill-informed. She was not aware of the technical origins of the product and in her enthusiasm of being on camera, gave factually incorrect information even though she was not authorised to speak to the press, Understanding the organisers sentiment we have vacated the premises."
