British PM Keir Starmer, in his India visit, stopped by YRF Studio, headquartered in Mumbai. He was hosted by Rani Mukerji, an Indian actress and the wife of Aditya Chopra, chairperson of YRF.
PM Keir Starmer visits YRF, hosted by Rani Mukerji
- As part of PM Keir Starmer’s India visit, he was welcomed by the Yash Raj Films studios. One of the prominent film production houses in India, active since 1970, and founded by filmmaker Yash Raj Chopra.
- YRF has been producing and distributing Hindi films across the country and is known for launching actors from non-film backgrounds, such as Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Bhumi Pednekar, Aneet Padda, and more.
- The Production house made successful movies that still top the list of the best films of India. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Chandni (1989), Dhoom series, Pathaan, Chak De! India and Mardaani are some of the pieces by YRF.
- He flew from London earlier that day, visited YRF as part of his India visit. As per the British High Commission, his visit aims to boost the cultural relations with India and promote collaboration.
- He was greeted by the indian actress Rani Mukerji, who is the wife of YRF chairperson Aditya Chopra. CEO of YRF, Akshay Widhani, was also present to welcome the British PM.
- Keir Starmer is also scheduled to participate in a football showcase organised by the English Premier League. Even after the Indian visit, the travel restrictions to England may not ease.
