Producer Bhushan Kumar has confirmed that Border 3 will be released after the massive success of Border 2, which has so far crossed the ₹200 crore mark, and is still performing well at the Box office. Bhushan Kuma said the details of the film, like the director and script is being discussed.
Border 2 is co-written and directed by Anurag Singh (with story by Nidhi Dutta and screenplay by Sumit Arora and Anurag Singh), and it features actors Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Sunny Deol had previously appeared in the Border (Original).
Border 2 performed exceptionally and crossed the ₹200 crore mark within just the first 5 days of its release. It was unexpected due to the hate the movie received, and particularly its remake of certain old songs from the previous sequel, and Varun Dhawan went viral for his smile.
The film was able to perform great on the Republic Day and collected the highest as a Hindi film on a holiday. After the massive success of the film, the production houses T-Series and JP Dutta's JP Films announced that another sequel will follow Border 2.
Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, revealed, "Obviously, it is such a big franchise. If you bring something back after almost 30 years and it is getting so much love, we will definitely take it forward.” Border 2 is a joint production venture between T-Series and JP Dutta, and the sequel will be released under the same producers.
He also said that the film will not go on floors immediately, but after brief discussions and planning. Border is also one of those franchises that the audience resonates deeply with, and has a special place in the hearts. So, naturally, audiences have high expectations when it comes to its storyline and all other aspects.
