Zubeen Garg’s cop cousin, Sandipan Garg, has been taken into custody in connection with the singer’s death. He accompanied him to Singapore and was present in Yascht on the day of his alleged drowning.
Zubeen Garg’s cop cousin arrested
- Sandipan Garg, the cop cousin of Zubeen Garg, currently serving in the Assam Police Service, who was present during the incident, was taken into custody for interrogation by the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
- He had been appearing before the CID for the last few days, and on 8th September at around 10:30 am, he was arrested. Officials say he will be produced before the court and seek 14 days’ custody.
- Zubeen Garg died under unexplained circumstances in Singapore, where he went to attend the 4th North East India Festival in Singapore. He was accompanied by his manager Siddharth Sharma and bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswani.
- Rupkamal Kalita, an NRI and member of the Assam Association Singapore, was interrogated for six hours on Tuesday. Kalita was present on the Yacht when the drowning incident occurred.
- In a viral clip, Zubeen Garg gasped for breath while uttering in the Assamese language “Jaabo de, Jaabo de,” which translates to “let me go”. He was one of the most famous singers from Assam, and the public is enraged over the incident and demanded a CID probe. Zubeen Garg once said he was treated as a money-making machine.
- SIT was set up by the Assam government, and the case was handed over to the CID. They have sent a summons to the witnesses of the incident. The Singapore-based Assamese have not responded to the summons.
