Imran Khan has been allowed to meet his sister Uzma Khanum in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, who is a medical doctor, amidst the speculation of poor health and possible assassination, PTI and his family sought permission to meet him from the Pakistani government.
Imran Khan’s sister visits him in Adiala jail
- After the international media drew attention towards the custodial secrecy of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and possible assassination, his family and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a political party established by him, inquired about the health of the former leader. The family and supporters lost all trace of him.
- The Pakistani Government has been refusing to let any of his family members meet him, raising concerns over his existence. Several of his supporters hinted at the poor health or possible assassination of the leader after the government denied entry to Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, where Imran Khan has been kept.
- Recently, his sister, who is a medical professional has been allowed to meet Imran Khan in Adiala jail after the huge controversy, as a humanitarian gesture towards to the prisoner. International media have been criticising the law and order of Pakistan, following which the step was taken. It is more like an act to improve the image of the ruling government.
- As per certain sources, the officials are planning to conceal the spread of an immediate update on Imran Khan’s health. The decision to let his sister meet him has been seen as an act out of fear after the public outrage.
