India have ruined cricket": Shoaib Akhtar slams BBCI after T20 victory

Former Pakistani cricketer in a broadcast said India is like a rich kid who invites everyone to play but still wants to be the winner. India was the host country of the T20 World Cup and clinched the victory by defeating New Zealand in the finals.

Shoaib Akhtar trolled for comment on the Indian team

The Indian team's victory at the T20 World Cup has triggered widespread reactions for various reasons. Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani cricketer and commentator, on a broadcast, came up with an objectionable remark on the Indian team, who made the country proud in their homeland.

It is India's 3rd T20 victory, the first one was in 2007, and the second victory was in 2024. India has been performing dominantly in every single tournament of T20, which has made India capable of winning several times.

Shoaib Akhtar made those comments on a talk show called “Game On Hai", on a Pakistani channel, where he explicitly made derogatory remarks on the Indian cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup.

He said India, being the host of the event, allowed it to make decisions that would eventually favour the Indian team. “It’s like when there’s one rich kid in a neighbourhood who calls all the poor kids and says, ‘Come, let’s play cricket’. That’s exactly what India is doing with us. Out of eight teams, they keep four, and out of those four, they call three again and move forward, and then they say, ‘See, I’ve won.’ They have ruined cricket entirely,” He said.

He also blamed the BCCI and held it accountable for allegedly meddling in crucial decisions like allocating groups and fixtures, which would make it easier for India to win effortlessly.
