Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of Iran, has been announced as the next Supreme Leader of Iran amid war with the U.S. and Israel. He was announced days later after his father and a few members of his family were killed in a strike.
Mojtaba Khamenei has been announced as the new Supreme Leader of Iran after the brutal attacks carried out by the U.S. and Israel led to a full-fledged war in the region. The war has disrupted the order and peace in the Middle East region and the oil supply to the other parts of the world.
The war is just escalating day by day as neither of the parties agrees to end it. Iranian officials have strived to take revenge and defend every inch of the land of Iran from the aggression of the joint forces that plan to destabilise and overthrow the Islamic rule in Iran.
Israel Katz, the Defence Minister of Israel, said, “Any leader appointed by the Iranian terror regime to continue leading the plan for the destruction of Israel, to threaten the United States, the free world and the countries of the region, and to oppress the Iranian people, will be an unequivocal target for elimination. It does not matter what his name is or where he hides. We will continue to act with full force, together with our American partners, to dismantle the regime’s capabilities and create the conditions for the Iranian people to overthrow and replace it.”
Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei is the second son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He was born on 8 September 1969 in Mashhad, Iran. He is the Shia religious leader and clerk. Iran's powerful clerical body, called the Assembly of Experts, chose Mojtaba as the Supreme Leader of Iran.
The leadership appears to be a dynastic or hereditary succession from father to son. Before assuming the post, he assisted his father behind the scenes, looked into political and security affairs, and his connections to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are deeply rooted, which would allow him to strengthen his control over Iran’s military and security apparatus.
He is a hard-line conservative who has anti-western stance, something that the Islamic regime fights for. He has been associated with military ventures, which include his participation in the Iran-Iraq war.
