Zohran Mamdani, New York-elect, paid a visit to the US president Donald Trump in the Oval Office on 21 November. Through the election campaigning, Trump labelled Mamdani as a communist Lunatic. Their sudden smiles left the internet stunned.
Donald Trump hosts the mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani at the White House
- Mayor-Elect of New York City Zohran Mamdani was hosted by U.S President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on 21 November to discuss shared interests, which resulted in a productive meeting. Donald Trump appeared to be more coherent with his words and fond of Zohran Mamdani, meeting him in person.
- It was predicted that a physical meeting could turn ugly because, in the past, Donald Trump had bashed him with derogatory remarks. He said Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic … he looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart,” and he also threatened him by saying ‘would have him arrested if he doesn’t behave'.
- Zohran Mamdani, in his winning speech, mentioned Trump. He said, “So, Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up.” After the heated verbal clashes, it was predicted that their face-to-face meeting may turn volatile; to everyone’s surprise, they looked professional and were all smiles, talking to each other. Donald Trump, who acts nonchalantly, appeared more focused and particular with his words.
- A journalist asked Mamdani if he affirms that Trump is a fascist. Before he could reply, Trump said, “Just say yes, that’s easier than explaining, I don’t mind”, then patted him. The Internet could not believe what unfolded. He even revealed his trust in Mamdani’s vision to make New York great again, and he said he is excited to live in Mamdani’s New York. Trump, said “I met with a man who’s a very rational person”.
- Donald Trump said, “We had a great meeting, a really good, very productive. We have one thing in common. We want this city of ours that we love to do very well, and I want to congratulate the mayor. He really ran an incredible race against a lot of smart people. I think you’re going to have, hopefully, a really great mayor. The better he does, the happier I am.”
- Zohran Mamdani thanked Trump and shared the key topics of the meeting, which were affordability for the New Yorkers, who are struggling to afford life in the most expensive city in the United States of America. We spoke about rent, groceries, utilities and different ways in which people are being pushed out. I look forward to working together to deliver affordability.
