PM Modi engaged with Benjamin Netanyahu in a telephonic conversation and exchanged new year greetings. They briefly spoke about strengthening the India-Israel strategic partnership this year. Apart from this, they spoke about major things that could benefit the citizens of the country.

  • As 2026 commenced, one of the closest leaders in the world, PM Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu, had a conversation over a call where they began with exchanging new year greetings. They touched upon various topics that could benefit both the countries and improve the bilateral ties.
  • Terrorism, an issue faced by both nations and that claimed the lives of many, had been the central topic of the conversation. They look forward to fighting terrorism with greater determination. It is one of the things that has challenged the borders and unity of the civilians residing in both countries.
  • They shared their interest towards improving the bilateral ties between India and Israel, as part of a strategic partnership this year. Not just that they even shared their thoughts on the current issues going on in the West Asia.

India-Israel relation

It is surprising to note that when Israel became a country in 1948, and David Ben-Gurion declared the establishment of the State of Israel, India did not recognise it, but rather sided with Palestine. As Israel supplied India with weapons to fight its enemies in wars, it began a long-standing cooperation.
