Coronavirus: North Korea Confirmed its First-ever case of Covid 19; declared a stringent National lockdown.

After asserting to have zero covid since two years of the pandemic North Korea confirmed its first-ever case of covid-19. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has announced a lockdown as six people are reported dead due to the fever that has spread explosively.

The state media informed the Omicron outbreak in the capital, Pyongyang. The number of cases has to be informed yet.

“KCNA said leader Kim Jong-un had sworn to eradicate the outbreak, which is called a "severe national emergency".

A day after North Korea confirmed its first-ever Covid-19 case, reports said that six people, who showed fever symptoms,  including the person with the confirmed Covid-19 case have died.

According to a KCNA news agency report, “About 187,800 people are being reportedly treated in isolation after a fever of unknown origin has "explosively spread nationwide". 

“Reportedly, 350,000 people have shown signs of fever since early April, of which around 18,000 newly reported symptoms on Thursday.”

The United States has elucidated that it has “no plans” to send vaccines to North Korea.
