A day after billionaire Elon Musk acquired control of the social media business in a $44 billion (roughly Rs. 3,62,300 crore) transaction, rapper Kanye West's Twitter profile was taken down for tweeting anti-Semitic slurs, seemed to be back up on the site.
Last month, Twitter and Instagram from Meta Platforms suspended the rapper, now going by the name Ye, and they also took down some of his online content that fans had deemed anti-Semitic.
A request for comment from Twitter did not immediately receive a response.
Ye, who has more than 30 million Twitter followers, recently courted controversy by publicly terminating significant corporate partnerships and making outbursts against other celebrities on social media.
Musk wrote, "Welcome back to Twitter, my buddy!" on October 8 in response to Ye's first post on the service in two years following the restriction of his Instagram account.
Musk took control of Twitter on Thursday ruthlessly, sacking senior executives but offering no explanation of how he plans to realize his goals for the important social media company.
Musk, also the CEO of Tesla and a self-described absolutist of free speech, has set out objectives to stop the platform from becoming an echo chamber for hatred and division.
Additionally, he stated that he would lift the suspension placed on former US President Donald Trump's account by Twitter following the attack on the US Capitol. On Friday, Trump expressed his happiness.
Ye agreed to purchase Parler, the social networking site favored by US conservatives, earlier in October.
According to those acquainted with the situation, shortly after the takeover, Musk removed the chief executive Parag Agrawal, the chief financial officer Ned Segal, and the head of legal affairs and policy Vijaya Gadde. He had claimed that they had misled him and Twitter's investors over the prevalence of fraudulent accounts on the site.
