Indian American Won Spelling Bee 2022

Harini Logan, an Indian origin girl, won the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday.

She correctly spelled 21 Words In 90 Seconds, amazing achievement it is.

The most delightful watch of the competition saw Ms Logan beat Vikram Raju, another Indian origin student, who studies in Class 7 in Denver.

The National Bee is as much a nerd spelling competition as it is a high-profile, high-pressure endurance test, and spellers spend months preparing for it.

The competition is won by spelling more words correctly in a spell-off. The Bee's first inception was in 1925.

While Ms Logan spelled 21 words correctly, her opponent could only manage 15, leading to her win.

The game has previously been dominated by Indian Americans, but last year, 14-year-old Zaila Avantgarde became the first African-American participant to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

This was the fourth and final appearance for Ms Logan in the Bee, and she called the victory "surreal", according to NYT.
