Since Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been questioned for hours at the ED office in New Delhi in connection with the National Herald issue.
As part of the ongoing investigation into the National Herald issue, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will have to return to the ED headquarters on Friday. For the third day in a row, Rahul Gandhi was questioned by the investigative agency on Wednesday.
The agency is also looking into a Rs 1 crore loan from Dotex Merchandise, an RPG Group firm, to Young Indian, which was utilised by YI to gain control of AJL.
The ED lawsuit stems from a trial court ruling allowing the Income Tax Department to investigate the business of the National Herald newspaper and assess Sonia and Rahul's taxes. A petition submitted by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in 2013 resulted in the order.
Since Monday, when the Congress leader made his first appearance at the ED office after being summons, Congress workers have been organising protests over Rahul Gandhi's questioning in the suspected money laundering case. The Congress leaders' protest on Wednesday sparked a huge standoff between the Delhi police and the Congress, with the party leaders charging that cops broke into the party headquarters and assaulted party members. The claims were denied by the Delhi Police, who stated that the workers' protest was legitimate.
