Alt News claims that Razorpay gave Delhi Police donor information.

According to the fact-checking website Alt News, payment processor Razorpay shared the website's donor information with the Delhi Police without alerting it and despite the fact that there was not even a preliminary inquiry of any infringement on its end. According to a statement released by Alt News on Tuesday, Razorpar initially deactivated its account before subsequently reactivating it.

Razorpay was never made to accept foreign credit cards, according to Alt News, which reaffirmed that payments to Alt News can only be made from Indian bank accounts.Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of Alt News who was detained on June 29 for a tweet that offended religious sensitivities, received "money from Pakistan, Singapore, the UAE, and Riyadh," according to public prosecutor Atul Shrivastav, who testified in court last week. Police were looking into the money he received through Razor Pay, he added.

Razorpay has provided the information, according to deputy police commissioner KPS Malhotra, but it is simply a payment gateway and cannot ever confirm the transactions.
