Amit Shah is an Indian politician. Currently, he serves as the Home Minister of India. He is also the first Cooperation Minister of India.

Birth and background

Amit Shah (full name: Amit Anil Chandra Shah) was born on October 22, 1964 in Mumbai into an affluent Gujarati family. Amit Shah was born to Mrs. Kusumben and Mr. Anilchandra Shah. His great grandfather was the Nagarseth (capital chief) of the small kingdom of Mansa. His father, Anil Chandra Shah, was a businessman from Mansa (Gujarat), who owned a successful PVC pipe business. Amit Shah is married to Sonal Shah. His son’s name is – Jai Shah. Jay Shah is currently the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Entry into politics

Shah was associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since childhood. He started going to Shakha since childhood. During his college days he formally became an RSS volunteer. His first meeting with Narendra Modi was in 1982 through the Ahmedabad RSS Mandal. At that time, Modi used to be an RSS pracharak. In 1995, the BJP formed its first government in Gujarat, with Keshubhai Patel as the Chief Minister.

From the year 2014-2020 he was a member of B.J.P. Was also the President of. He was also the President of the National Democratic Alliance since 2014. Before becoming a cabinet minister, he was a minister in the Gujarat government from 2002-2012. During his presidential tenure, B.J.P. He registered a massive victory in the General Elections, 2019 due to which he came to be known as the ‘Chanakya’ of elections. He was earlier elected to Rajya Sabha from Gujarat in 2017.

A five-time MLA of the Gujarat Assembly (1997–2017), Amit Shah was elected from the Sarkhej assembly constituency for four consecutive elections and from the Naranpura assembly constituency in 2012. In the 2002 assembly elections, Amit Shah was elected with a record margin of 1. 58,036 votes, which created history in Gujarat Assembly elections. Again in 2007, he defeated the Congress Party candidate for the fourth consecutive time by the highest margin of 2,32,823 votes.

Amit Shah was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament, from the state of Gujarat on 19 August 2017.
In the General Election 2019, Amit Shah has won from 06-Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency of Gujarat state by a huge margin of 5,57,014 (70% vote share).

Served as the President of Ahmedabad District. S.O.P.P. Bank, (22 January 2000 to 22 December 2002) which is the lead bank of 367 district co-operative banks. Banks of India. The loss-making bank was turned profitable while ensuring that shareholders received some dividends on their investments. Additionally, played a key role in formulating a Rs 400 crore revival package for the then defunct Madhavpura Mercantile Co-op Bank. The amount received was distributed to small depositors
