Bhagwant Singh Mann is an Indian politician. He is currently the Chief Minister of Punjab state. He is also a former comedian, singer and actor.
Bhagwant Mann was born on October 17, 1973. He was born in a Jat Sikh family to father Mohinder Singh and mother Harpal Kaur. Mann was born in Satoj village of Sunam tehsil in Sangrur district of Punjab, India.
Gained fame through acting
Mann started his business career as a. His first comedy album was with comedian Jagtar Jaggi. Both of them created a television program called ‘Jugnu Kehanda Hai’ for Alpha ETC Punjabi.
Bhagwant Mann got his big break in 2008. In fact, in 2008, Mann participated in the Great Indian Laughter Challenge on Star Plus which increased his viewership and fan base. Additionally, he also acted in several films as an actor.
Political trip
Bhagwant Mann’s political journey began in 2011, when Mann joined the People’s Party of Punjab. In 2012, he also contested the assembly elections in Lehra constituency, but lost.
In the year 2014, Bhagwant Mann contested the elections from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. He contested his first Lok Sabha election against former Union Minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and won by 2,11,721 votes. He was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Sangrur constituency in the 2019 general election.
In the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly elections, Bhagwant Mann won from Dhuri Assembly by a margin of 58,206 votes. Subsequently, he was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab.
