Selena Marie Gomez is a multi-talented performer being an American singer, actress, businesswoman, and producer. She was born to Mandy Teefey and Ricardo Gomez on July 22, 1992 in Grand Prairie, Texas. Selena Gomez was named after Tejano singer Selena, who died in 1995.

Her career began as a child actress when she starred as "Gianna" on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004). She gained fame when she emerged as a teen idol for her leading role in Disney’s as Alex Russo on the  Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012).

Being a multi talented and versatile star icon of Hollywood, Selena Gomez tried multiple genres and starred in numerous films.

Selena made hollywood records in 2008 when she formed the pop singers band Selena Gomez & the Scene and released her first album which ranked #9 on the Billboard 200 album charts. She later released three studio albums from 2009 to 2011 and each of her band’s releases have received gold or higher certification by the RIAA. 

Her solo studio albums as each debuted atop the U.S. Billboard 200 upon release. Her Electronic Dance Music (EDM) inspired debut album, Stars Dance (2013) yielded the international top-10 list “Come & Get it”. Selena signed with Interscope Awards in 2015 by releasing the electropop set “Revival” supported by top-ten singles "Good for You", "Same Old Love", and "Hands to Myself"

In 2020, the album Rare, topped the charts in eleven countries with the song “Lose you to Love me” by becoming the number-one song in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. 

As of 2024, Selena Gomez is the first person to reach 100 million followers along with the most-followed woman on Instagram, with over 430 million followers. She earned her first Grammy nomination by foraying into spanish-language music with the EP Revelación (2021).
