Shivraj Singh Chauhan is a famous politician of India. He is the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh state. He is a senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. Before entering politics, Shivraj Singh Chauhan was an RSS volunteer. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh at the age of just 13. He was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 2020 to 2023 and previously from 2005 to 2018.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan was born on March 5, 1959. Prem Singh Chauhan and Sundar Bai Chauhan are his parents. Shivraj Singh received gold medal in Post Graduation (Philosophy) from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. During the Emergency, he became part of the underground movements and hence went to jail.

He was married to Sadhna Singh. He has two sons. Chauhan was first elected to the state assembly in 1990 from Budhni constituency. However, the following year he was elected Member of Parliament for the first time in the elections to the 10th Lok Sabha from Vidisha constituency. Shivraj Singh Chauhan was elected Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on November 30, 2005. Earlier he was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 2005 to 2018, then from 2020 to 2023.

  • 1972 – Joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of 13.
  • 1975 – Elected President of Model School Student Union.
  • 1975 – Was the Joint Minister of Madhya Pradesh of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
  • 1976 – Participated in the underground movement against the Emergency and was imprisoned in Bhopal jail for some time.
  • 1977 – Became the Organization Minister of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
  • 1980 – State General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad
  • 1982 – Member of the National Executive of All India Students
  • 1984 – Was the Joint Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Madhya Pradesh.
  • 1985 – BJYM General Secretary
  • 1988 – Was the state president of Yuva Morcha.
  • 1990 – Became MLA from Budhni assembly constituency.
  • 1991 – Lok Sabha member representing Vidisha.
  • 1991 – Convenor of All India Keshariya Vahini.
  • 1992 – Became General Secretary of All India Janata Yuva Morcha
  • 1992 – Appointed State General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party.
  • 1992 – Appointed member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
  • 1993 – 1996 Member of the Labor and Welfare Committee.
  • 1994 – Member of Hindi Advisory Committee.
  • 1996 – Re-elected as Member of Parliament from Vidisha (second time) in the 11th Lok Sabha.
  • 1996 – Appointed member of Urban and Rural Development Committee, Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Hindi Advisory Committee and Labor and Welfare Committee.
