He is considered one of the greatest tabla players of all time and has gained international fame for his talent and contribution to the world of Indian classical music. Zakir Hussain was born on March 9, 1951 in Mumbai into a musician family. He started playing the tabla at a very young age under the guidance of his father, the renowned tabla player Ustad Allah Rakha.
