Day 2 live updates for the 2022 Commonwealth Games: After Sanket Sargar’s silver, Gururaja Poojary fails at 120 kg in his third attempt

In the Men's 61 kg Weightlifting final, weightlifter Gururaja Poojary will begin the clean and jerk round with an attempt of 145 kg. At the end of the snatch round, he was placed fourth. Earlier, he had lifted 118 kg and 115 kg in his second and first attempts after failing in his final try to snatch for 120 kg. Weightlifter Sanket Sargar won silver in the 55 kg men's final on Saturday, returning with India's first medal from the 2018 Commonwealth Games, preceding Gururaja's competition. Prior to missing a weight of 139 kg in his second and third clean and jerk efforts in the final, Sanket Sargar lifted 135 kg in his first try. 

Srihari Nataraj, a swimmer, had a successful first day of competition since he was able to get to the finals. While Australia trounced India in a Pool A women's cricket match, South Africa and Barbados were defeated by the table tennis teams with identical 3-0 victory.

Weightlifter Sanket Sargar received congratulations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday after winning a silver medal in the Men's 55 kg division of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Sargar established India's presence in the Commonwealth Games by taking home a Silver medal in the final with a combined lift of 248 kg.

Aznil Bin Bidin Muhamed of Malaysia is currently ranked first in the 61 kg weight category after lifting a record-breaking 127 kg during the Commonwealth Games.With a successful lift of 118 kg on his second attempt, Indian Gururaja Poojary comes in second.
