Achanta Sharath Kamal won the men's table tennis singles championship in Birmingham by defeating Liam Pitchford of Great Britain 4-2.
At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, India's top paddler Sharath Kamal earned an incredible fourth medal, capping his remarkable run at the competition with the elusive gold in the men's singles event. The Indian paddler, 40, overcame local favourite Liam Pitchford 11-13, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6, and 11-8 to earn his fourth medal in the singles event.
But in the quarterfinals, the Indian handled the Singaporean with no difficulty, winning 11-6, 11-7, 11-4, and 11-7 in a row.
The following player was Paul Drinkhall of England, a multiple Commonwealth Games doubles medalist who has yet to take home a singles medal. In a six-game encounter, Sharath defeated his English opponent and the raucous, hostile crowd to win 4-2.
The senior Indian player and Sreeja Akula earlier on Day 10 (Sunday) achieved the top podium position in the mixed doubles division by defeating Malaysia's Choong Javen and Karen Lyne 3-1 in the final.

Additionally, he won the men's singles title for the second time at the CWG, bringing his total number of medals won at the competition to 13. In the men's team competition earlier in the 2022 edition, Sharath took home a gold medal. He then added a silver in the men's doubles competition and a gold in the mixed doubles competition.
