The opening match of the SA20 will take place between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals in Cape Town, with the final of the inaugural season of the 33-match competition taking place at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium. The SA20 will be held from January 10 to February 11, 2023. Still, it will be postponed from January 25 to February 1 to accommodate England’s three World Cup Super League ODIs that South Africa will host during that time.

Along with the two semi-finals, Johannesburg will also host the final on February 11, which has a reserve day scheduled.

South Africa’s hopes of achieving automatic qualification depend on the one-day international games (ODIs), postponed from December 2020 owing to an outbreak of Covid-19 in both camps.

The one-day international games (ODIs), which were delayed from December 2020 due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in both camps, are crucial to South Africa’s chances of securing automatic qualification for the 2023 World Cup after they postponed three ODIs in Australia to make room for SA20 and ensure their best players would be available.

Six teams are involved in the league: Sunrisers Eastern Cape, which represents Gqeberha, MI Cape Town, Durban Super Giants, Johannesburg Super Kings, Paarl Royals, and Pretoria Capitals.

The head coach of the Johannesburg Super Kings will be Faf du Plessis, a former player for the Chennai Super Kings. Another former CSK player, Albie Morkel, will aid the head coach in leading the group.

According to Graeme Smith, the commissioner of the SA20 league, “fans will be able to witness the top local and international T20 talent live in action at optimum viewing periods for the afternoon and evening matches.”

This is also a perfect transmission time, he continued, ensuring that fans worldwide may continue to enjoy the captivating entertainment.

Thirty-three games will be contested at the SA20, which will run from January 10 through February. During the league, each side will play the other twice, once at home and once away, before two semi-finals and the championship game.
