World Tuberculosis Day 2022: “Invest to End TB, Save Lives”.

Every year March 24 is commemorated as world tuberculosis day.

This year's theme for Tuberculosis day by WHO is “Invest to End TB, Save Lives”.

In the year 1882, Dr. Robert Koch, a German physician discovered the bacteria that caused tuberculosis, which opened the doors to its diagnosis and treatment.

Tuberculosis stays one of the world’s deadliest infectious killers. Each day, over 4100 people lose their lives to TB, and near to 28,000 people fall ill with this preventable and rectifiable disease. Global efforts to battle TB have rescued an estimated 66 million lives since the year 2000. Nonetheless, the COVID-19 pandemic has rebounded years of improvement made in the wrangle to end TB. For the first time in over a decade, TB deaths increased in 2020. - reported WHO.

This year's theme is to convey the message to take preventive measures against this deadliest disease and contribute to maintaining the progress made to rescind this disease. Also to raise awareness among people about it. Making them understand the menaces it can bring to individual soundness.

Due to the pandemic, the cases of TB have dangerously increased losing all the progress made before. The attention to TB was deemed during the pandemic resulting in an upsurge in the patients.
