Elections you missed out on voting in? There may be a call to vote from the polling panel

Elections you missed out on voting in? You could soon receive a call from the Election Commission pleading with you to use your valuable vote in the next election.
Rajiv Kumar, the chief election commissioner, stated on Friday that nodal officers had been appointed to raise awareness among the non-voting personnel in the business sector, government, and organizations with more than 500 people.

“These nodal officers will try to convince these non-voting staff after the vote. We’ll try to contact them and urge them to give it another shot. We’ll start with that sort of awareness. “At a news conference held here, Mr. Kumar stated. Anup Chandra Pandey, the election commissioner, also attended the news conference.

He said that the Commission was concentrating on solving the problem of urban residents’ lack of interest in the election process.

According to Mr. Kumar, four major cities were among the 7-8 districts with the fewest voters in the general elections of 2019.

The CEC stated, “We are taking on urban apathy very, very seriously,” and added that the chief electoral officials and district officers had been requested to concentrate on the voting places that have seen the lowest turnout in each seat.

According to Mr. Kumar, district electoral authorities have been required to personally visit these polling places, ascertain the causes of the reduced turnout, and solve the issues the populace faces.

According to him, the Commission’s three main goals are to organize free and fair elections that are accessible, inclusive, and devoid of coercion.

The CEC stated that to enhance college and university involvement in the polling process, the Commission will also make contact with them.

The Commission was also working to guarantee that everyone had the opportunity to vote, including young, urban, female, senior, PwD, and third-gender voters.

In addition to other categories, Mr. Kumar stated, “special aggressive measures have been done to enlist PwDs and third genders.”
