In the QS Sustainability World Ranking, Jadavpur University is the only state-run institution in the nation

The QS Sustainability World Ranking 2023 includes only one state-run university from India, and that university is Jadavpur University. The list includes 700 institutions, 15 of which are from India. According to a JU spokeswoman, the rating is based on sustainability performance, focusing on higher education institutions' environmental and social implications. It has considered factors including equity, information sharing, and the influence of education.
According to the spokesman, Jadavpur University is ranked seventh among Indian institutions. The top Indian institution on the list is IIT Bombay, and Jawaharlal Nehru University tops the list of all central and state-run Indian institutions.

One of the major worldwide rankings for evaluating the performance and popularity of institutions worldwide is QS World University Rankings. The QS world university rankings website stated that the sustainability rankings, released on Wednesday, are the first edition and employ a methodology that includes measures meant to gauge an institution's capacity to address environmental, social, and governance concerns.

The indicators are broken down into social effect measurements covering equality, knowledge sharing, the influence of education, employability, and opportunity. JU Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das expressed gratitude for the university's participation in the list of institutions prioritizing sustainability.

"For us, it is a source of pride. JU has ranked first among the best colleges in the nation in several previous years. I dedicate this rating to our workers, students, researchers, and instructors. Despite being a public institution and receiving little support from the government, our stakeholders are striving for greatness. We must work to achieve more success, "he added.
