On 18 Nov, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Al Falah group chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui in the money laundering case, and he was produced before the court to seek remand. “He was produced before a court to seek custodial remand. Further investigation is underway,” said ED. The agency has been actively searching for the trustees and important position holders at Al Falah University. In a raid carried out around 5:15 am, ₹48 lakhs were discovered in cash.

Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui has been the chancellor since 2014. After a thorough raid, several suspicious materials were seized. As per sources, a series of financial irregularities has been observed, which indicates fraudulent activities in the university and Al Falah’s flagships. The fund was diverted to shell companies and unidentified networks. Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui has been the managing trustee of the Al Falah Charitable Trust since 1995, which is the most important position.

Two FIRs were registered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, which claimed Al Falah University, based in Faridabad, was a fraud and falsely secured accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and does not fulfill UGC’s eligibility, but the university had continued to firmly assert its accreditation. It also received funds from Muslim Nations, but investigations were never conducted.

The suicide bomber in the Delhi car blast, Umar Un Nabi, was appointed as a doctor at the university and stayed in a room. It served as a haven for him to plot his plans to relocate Ammonium Nitrate, which was intended to be used in multiple blasts across Delhi NCR. The laboratory in the university was allegedly used for the creation and protection of these materials.
