Apple to acquire computer vision startup Prompt AI’s team and technology

Apple is reportedly acquiring the computer vision startup Prompt AI’s team and technology. Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the integration of AI in Apple Products as its competitors are already ahead in the AI race. 

Apple to acquire Prompt AI’s team and technology

  • CNBC stated that tech giant Apple is close to striking a deal with computer vision startup Prompt AI to acquire “talent and technology.” A meeting was conducted on Thursday to discuss the agreement and decide what is to follow. 
  • An all-hands meeting took place on Thursday; those who do not join Apple will be paid a reduced salary. Everyone was asked to join Apple. Investors will get paid in the deal. Prompt employees were advised to keep information confidential until further notice. 
  • Seemour, Prompt’s flagship, is already a popular product; it applies AI to security cameras, and it not only monitors people but also provides a text-based description of activities happening in front of the camera, CNBC said. 
  • CEO Tim Cook revealed how they regretted not focusing on AI developments and integration, as their competitors have been introducing new advancements. OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Perplexity have become household names, preferring these over Google search results. 
  • Apple wanted to maintain its own identity of producing iPhones and unique products, but the popularity of AI has compelled the company to develop its own AI think-tank. CEO Tim Cook revealed Apple's AI endeavours.
