Early Life and Education

  • Jemimah Rodrigues was born on September 5, 2000, to Ivan Rodrigues and Lavita Rodrigues in a Mangalorean Christian family in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She grew up in Bhandup with her parents and two brothers, Enoch and Eli. She developed an interest in Hockey and cricket, and played both sports simultaneously when she was young. Her father, Ivan Rodrigues, a former junior cricket coach, played a crucial role in establishing a cricket team at her school at St. Joseph’s Convent High School.
  • She began training at the tender age of four and practised with her brother Enoch and Eli. Her family moved to Bandra West to access better sports facilities. She went to Rizvi College of Arts, Science & Commerce to pursue a bachelor’s degree. She has juggled between her studies and her sports career. In 2018, she appeared for her 12th board exams while preparing for the South Africa series. 

Debut and Domestic Cricket 

  • Jemimah Rodrigues is a versatile player and has exhibited her talent since childhood. Her father recognised her athletic potential. She represented Maharashtra in junior-level field hockey. At the age of 11, she chose between the two sports as it was difficult to manage, and she went with cricket because she believed she had reached an advanced level in cricket, compared to hockey. 
  • She was selected for the Maharashtra Under-19 cricket team at the age of 12 and a half. She made history by scoring 202 in the domestic U-19 against Saurashtra, becoming the second woman after Smriti Mandhana to achieve a double century in a 50-over match. She was the highest run-scorer in the domestic U-19 from the 2016-2018 seasons, scoring more than 1,000 runs. 

International debut and further 

  • Her exceptional performance in the U-19 showcased her potential to represent India at the International matches. On February 13, 2018, she made her debut in T20I against South Africa. She was also studying for the Class 12 board exams at that time. On March 12, 2018, she debuted in the One Day International format against Australia. She played against England on December 14, 2023, in a Test match.
  • She played in the ACC Asia Cup 2022 and ended up as the top run-scorer of the tournament. In the same year, she played a crucial part in the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham (England), in which Indian secured a Silver Medal

Franchise cricket 

  • In 2023, for the Women's Premier League, Delhi Capitals acquired her for ₹2.20 crore (INR). She played for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars in Australia. She played for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred (2021 edition), where she became one of the highest run-scorers.

  • The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup of 2025 demonstrated her brilliance in the sport under tremendous strain. She did not leave any stone unturned in aiming to clinch the maximum runs. This ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup of 2025 became one of the most memorable cricket matches. In the semi-final against Australia held in Navi Mumbai, she secured 127 runs from 134 balls, which played an instrumental role in helping to reach the target of 339 set by the opposite team. 

Personal Life and Net Worth 

  • She started playing at a young age and maintained a balance between her studies and sports, excelling at both. She grew up as a Christian and has been vocal about her faith.
