Many people were undoubtedly surprised by cricket player Shikhar Dhawan's unexpected appearance in the Double XL teaser. Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha play the leading ladies in the movie. The first scene of the trailer shows ambitious sports writer Huma Qureshi daydreaming about dancing with Shikhar Dhawan. According to a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Shikhar Dhawan's appearance in the movie was persuaded by actor Saqib Saleem, who is also Huma Qureshi's brother. "Saqib called him and found him to be rather receptive. He believed in the movie's concept and declared, "This movie should be created." He backed us because of this. He was generous enough to do a one-day shoot and said, 'I'm there for you guys," Satram Ramani told Hindustan Times.
Earlier this month, Huma Qureshi posted a few behind-the-scenes photos and film stills of herself alongside Shikhar Dhawan on her Instagram page. She wrote: "The cat is now out of the bag. Shikhar Dhawan #DoubleXL, finally."
In the Satram Ramani-produced film Double XL, plus-size characters Rajshree Trivedi and Saira Khanna—played by Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi—navigate social expectations of beauty while pursuing their ideal careers. It was co-produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ashwin Varde, Saqib Saleem, Huma Qureshi, and Mudassar Aziz and stars Zaheer Iqbal.
The movie's November 4 release date has been set.
