Two peasants in Bijapur, Bastar, were killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Two peasants were murdered by Maoists in the Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh because they were supposedly acting as police informants there.

The two villagers were named as Raju Modiyam of Peddakorma and Dula Kodme of Pusnar in the Bijapur district, according to reports. For supposedly serving as the police's informers, the rebels organised a kangaroo court in Peddakorma and issued death sentences.

The bodies will be sent to the district headquarters for an autopsy by a police team that has been dispatched to the location for verification.

Another villager has reportedly been held captive by the Maoists since Sunday, according to department sources.

“We have initial information that Maoists have allegedly killed two in Pedakorma and Pusnar villages under Gangaloor police station limits,” Police Inspector General of Bastar Added Sundarraj P. According to him, Dinesh Modiyam, the secretary of the CPI (MaoistGangaloor )'s area committee, is thought to be the brother of one of the murdered, Raju Podiyami.

Sub-inspector Rajesh Suryawanshi was slightly hurt during the initial confrontation on Sunday night on the Tarrem-Chinagelur road inside the Tarrem police station's jurisdiction.
