A video showing a member of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) assisting a man with special needs to board a train is going viral on social media.
Supriya Sahu, an employee of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), released the video on Twitter on Friday. "Superb action on the part of Mr. Saravanan, SI, RPF. After carrying him there, he assisted a man with special needs in boarding a train at Virudhachalam station. More people like him are needed, "In the caption, she stated.
In the video, RPF Sub-Inspector (SI) Saravanan is seen assisting a passenger with special needs on the train at the Virudhachalam station in Tamil Nadu. From the train's entrance until the man's birth, the official bear him the entire way. Another individual observed helping the RPF personnel is an older woman.
The video has received over 36,000 views and over 2,000 likes since it was uploaded. Internet users praised the RPF officer's kindness and called for the Railways to provide better infrastructure.
Another user commented, "Exquisite gesture indeed. But trains should also be upgraded to fulfill the requirements of the physically challenged. It's tough to even for so-called normal people, especially the usage of toilets," while another said, "We thank Police for his gesture and work is much appreciated. But there should be a ramp available so the whole wheelchair unit can be taken inside."
The third person said, "The gesture is full of humanity, but what would be the need to put both into suffering if we have ramps to board trains at every railway station in India? We need barrier-free transportation infrastructure more than people with gold hearts."
"Great job, Mr. Saravanan. We must learn from him and serve those with special needs and the elderly in all the locations, giving them precedence while in line," a fourth person remarked.
