Lawyer: Harvey Weinstein Is Detained In “Medieval” Conditions

Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, is being detained in horrible circumstances in a cell. At the same time, he waits for his daily court appearances in Los Angeles, according to his attorney on Tuesday.
The former Hollywood powerhouse "Shakespeare in Love" producer currently faces numerous counts of sexual assault against five women between 2004 and 2013.

In addition to the 23 years already served for sex offenses committed in New York, he faces a potential sentence of more than 100 years in prison if found guilty of the charges, which he denies.

Conditions in the holding cell where the wheelchair-using Weinstein is being held have been criticized by his attorney Mark Werksman on the second day of his trial in Los Angeles, where the court is attempting to narrow down a vast pool of possible jurors.

"Conditions are nearly medieval. I'm worried about his health and if he'll be able to endure this trauma without suffering a heart attack or stroke, "Werksman informed the jury. He is 70 years of age.

According to Judge Lisa Lench, the sheriff's officers in charge of holding Weinstein while he is on trial stated they would speak with her.

"No, I'm not downplaying it. I don't think there's anything to be done, "explained Lench.

The jury selection process will probably take many days. The study may go on for two months.

In October 2017, several claims of Weinstein's sexual assault and harassment erupted, and his conviction in New York in 2020 served as a turning point for the #MeToo movement.

He unsuccessfully sought to have that sex offenses conviction reversed in June. Additionally, he is facing a separate prosecution from British authorities for the indecent assault of a lady in London in 1996.

Nearly 90 women have accused Weinstein of harassment or assault, including Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie.

Weinstein claims that all of his sexual encounters were consensual, and according to earlier statements made to the media by his attorney, the Los Angeles allegations date back "many years." Any forensic data or reliable witnesses have not supported them.
