Maharashtra’s Forest Department Saves a Female Leopard

According to an official, the forest department in Nashik today rescued a female leopard between 3 and 4 years old.
The department will release the leopard into the jungle from where it was discovered in Nashik's Deolali camp.

A female leopard, estimated to be between 3 and 4 years old and in good health, was saved by our team in Nashik's Deolali camp area, according to Ganesh Rao Jhole, a forest officer who was speaking to ANI. We will release the leopard in a forest shortly.

Four Nashik residents had been detained earlier on Monday by the Forest Department West concerning the smuggling of leopard skins.

According to Deputy Forest Conservator Pankaj Garg, the leopard skin traffickers from Igatpuri Aboli village in Nashik were nabbed by Forest Dept West.

Four suspects were found with leopard skin. We are doing the questioning and will try to find out whether they have any connections abroad.
