OYO Launches Internal Investigation After Couple Was Secretly Filmed In Noida Hotel: Report

OYO Rooms has launched an internal investigation after Noida police detained two individuals accused of installing a concealed camera in a hotel room and filming a couple, according to officials on Saturday. Last month, the two defendants reserved the same space in the vicinity of the Phase 3 police station, where they installed a covert camera before leaving.
After a week, they allegedly rebooked the same room and removed the camera that had captured the pair in an intimate setting. Saad Miyan Khan, an additional DCP (Central Noida), said the couple had launched an extortion attempt by threatening to post their video online. Police questioned the hotel workers about the event while holding the suspects Vishnu Singh and Abdul Wahab, but their part has not been revealed so far.

"So, no evidence has emerged linking the hotel or its workers to the tragedy. The police are getting in touch with former customers who have recently stayed at the hotel to see whether anyone else received an extortion call as the accused pair had previously visited there, "Khan, ADCP, said PTI.

OYO hasn't made any formal statements on the incident, but those connected to the firm claim an internal investigation is underway. According to a source who spoke to PTI, "OYO does not run any hotels or guest homes; instead, it merely lists vetted establishments on its platform and offers IT-based support to them."

According to the police, an FIR has been filed following IPC Sections 420, 386, 506, 467, 468, and 120B, and an additional investigation is under progress.
